Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Ambikly publishes the Ambikly WordPress plugins and operates this website. For anything in this policy, contact [email protected].
2. Data this website collects
2.1 Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider records standard access logs — IP address, requested URL, referrer, browser user-agent and timestamp — for security and troubleshooting. Logs are retained for a limited period by the host and are not used to profile visitors.
2.2 Contact and support
When you email us we keep the correspondence, your email address and anything you include (such as a System Status report) for as long as needed to resolve the request and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference.
2.3 Purchases and licenses
When you buy Ambikly Pro or Agency we store your name, email address, billing country, order history and license keys, and the sites on which a key is activated. Card details are handled entirely by the payment processor (see section 5); we never see or store full card numbers.
2.4 Fonts
This site loads the Hanken Grotesk and IBM Plex Mono typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore requests those files from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and user-agent. Google’s handling of that request is described in Google’s privacy policy.
2.5 What we do not do
We do not run analytics, advertising pixels, session recording, A/B testing tools or social-media trackers on this site, and we do not sell or rent personal data.
3. Data the Ambikly plugins handle
Ambikly is software you install on your own WordPress site. Everything a store collects — products, orders, customers, addresses, download logs — is stored in your WordPress database, and you are the controller of that data. Ambikly does not transmit your store data to us.
- Payment processors. Stripe and PayPal are contacted only when you enable the corresponding gateway and a customer pays with it. Order amount, currency and billing details are sent to them to create and confirm the payment. See Stripe’s and PayPal’s policies.
- Pro license checks. Ambikly Pro sends your license key and your site URL to our license server (store.ambikly.com) when you activate or deactivate the key and once a day thereafter to confirm it is valid and to check for updates. No store data is included.
- Optional add-on integrations. Some Pro add-ons talk to third-party services only if you configure them with your own credentials: CRM Sync (Mailchimp or HubSpot), AI Product Descriptions (Anthropic or OpenAI), Social Login (Google or Facebook). Each is off until you enable it.
- Download logs. The Download Analytics add-on stores IP addresses only as salted hashes and prunes them after the retention period you set.
- Your customers’ rights. Ambikly registers WordPress personal-data exporters and erasers, so Tools → Export / Erase Personal Data covers store customers and orders.
4. Why we process data and on what basis
| Purpose | Data | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Delivering a purchased license, updates and support | Name, email, order, license key, activated sites | Performance of a contract |
| Answering contact and pre-sales enquiries | Email address and message content | Legitimate interest / your request |
| Keeping the site and store secure | Server logs | Legitimate interest |
| Tax and accounting records | Invoice details | Legal obligation |
5. Who else processes data
- Hosting provider for this website and the license server.
- Payment processor for license purchases (Stripe and/or PayPal), which receives your payment details directly.
- Google Fonts as described in 2.4.
- Email provider for support correspondence.
We do not use any other third-party processor for this website. If that changes, this section will be updated.
6. Retention
- Order and invoice records: for as long as tax law requires (typically 6–10 years depending on jurisdiction).
- License and activation records: for the life of the license plus a reasonable period afterwards.
- Support correspondence: for up to 24 months after the last message.
- Server logs: per the hosting provider’s rotation, normally 30 days or less.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]; we respond within 30 days. If you are a customer of a store that runs Ambikly, contact that store — they control your data, not us.
8. International transfers
Our processors may store data outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard offered by the processor.
9. Children
This website and the Ambikly store are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We will post any change here and update the date at the top of the page. Material changes to how license-holder data is used will also be announced by email.
